Sorry I haven't been blogging pictures lately but are computer is in the shop so we are laptop solo. Anyway I really wanted to post pictures of our trip to Michigan for Thanksgiving, it was amazing. I am so blessed that all my extended family are Christians. We spent the time their cooking, eating, playing Wii, playing Catch Phrase, watching movies and of course the Macy's day parade!!!!!!!!!!!
Mom and I are flying to Washington state in two days for two weeks so it's a little crazy around here.

My birthday started out like any other birthday, we ate a lovely breakfast and opened presents and that's when things got weird. I was in the bathroom brushing my hair when I felt a something pressed against my back. I looked behind me and their was Judah with a gun then Olivia came in from the other door yelling that this was a hold up and that I had better cooperate. they blind folded me and carried me out to the car. We drove around for maybe fifteen minutes before we reached our destination the Bromkas.

After I got out of the car at the Bromkas they told me that they had made a treasure hunt using Jareds Geo chaching compass and that I would have to follow it to get the rest of my presents.

Some of the presents were things to share, like candy and toys for the girls.

Some of the Geo caches were a little bit harder to get to than others!

We came across a lovely little pond on our hike leading me too......

an old shack were I found number my six present.

Yes we had to do it the hard way and go through the ravine instead of around it.

Dinner at Suzanne's

So as most of you know Liv and I work at a restaurant called Suzanne's. They serve the most amazing food and Liv wanted to take me there for my birthday dinner.

First, though, we needed to have a photo shoot.

The other day we went Geo Caching with Jared and his girls, using a kind of GPS device we were led to little areas where we would have to find a container, which usually had little toys and things little children would like. The deal was you put a toy in and take a toy out.

Looking for a Geo Cach under an over pass, it was a little noisy:)

And he found it!

There was great excitement when the girls would find a plauqe naming the tree!

For one of the Geo Caches we had to go on a hike through a woods.

Judah's next present was to go tubing at 10:00 in the morning and a lunch on the lake. Liv had barely gone tubing this year so she got to go first.

Our favorite place to go out for Ice cream is the Creamery. Jordan met us there on his Motorcycle.

I tried getting a good picture of me and dad but every time I smiled at the camera dad would eat my ice cream:)

For Judah's birthday we decided to go to the New York State Fair, he was quite excited!

The car ride got a little interesting after sitting there for half an hour.We, or should I say Judah, got a little crazy:)

Liv and mom finally found some shade, but even though we got a little heated it was a lovely day, and after the hot week we just had we were grateful that we went when we did.

Liv and Em did not like the chicken barn at all!!

Bub looks a little unsure of himself, after they put the bar down.

Judah and I had fun on the big drop, but I must say my stomach was quite worn out by the end of the day:(

Altogether we had a lovely time.

I can't find my camera to computer hook up!!!!!!!!!!!! I've looked every where . . . weeell,
maybe not every where since I obviously can't find it!!!!!!!!!!!! I really don't have time to post any way, it's been a little busy around here. We killed our chickens yesterday and then today helped our friends do theirs and tomorrow were bagging the chickens. Half of us went on a mini vacation to Virginia and the other half on a missions trip to Cumberland,Kentucky, so I think I need to take a break from my. . . well, life I guess. Anyway, you can keep praying that I find my hook up and I'll keep looking. Bye for now.

Vacation in Michigan Part 1

Anja works at a Christian Conference Center and she took us to do the climbing wall and the zip line the second day we were there; we had a blast!

The wall was a little daunting and I was a kinda nervous

Judah was really excited to climb the wall. Last time we were here he wasn't old enough to do it or the zip line

We did fall a few times, but it was a lot of fun

Anja and I raced up the climbing wall. I won, but only by a little

Anja and us with her best friend Maggie. The summer camp people all have to have nicknames: Maggie's was Tongue Twister, and Anja's was Princess Fiona:)

When we were at the conference grounds, there was a tornado watch and we all had to go to the center of the building cause that was the safest. I was freaked out! But even though there was a tornado touch down, it didn't come near us. On the way home we came upon this lovely mud puddle.We almost tried to go through it but thought better of it. It only took half and hour for this road to flood!

In the spring mom and I go around to old abandoned houses and rescue tulip bulbs. A lot of these were dug up form the old green house in Geneva beside Walmart. I think they like their home much better now

So I have about five minutes to give you all an update into my life.
Friday we went skiing, Saturday we have a dance to go to, and Sunday Judah and I are babysitting five adorable little girls all under the age of six. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!
Tonight I am making dinner........(gasp) yes you all may pray for me. I think I picked the easiest thing though, spaghetti, caeser salad and french bread. Yep I am pretty much a sissy, but I am confident; what could be easier? You toss a bunch of noodles in a pot and pour a bunch of sauce over them right? Ha Ha not really. Well gotta go, I will try to post more but I've been really busy doing school. signing off!

Anja and I have been working for the past week on Christmas crafts

Our first project were vintage angels made from shells and bits of
lace and cloth.

THE SAGA OF THE RACCOON

Once upon a time there was a raccoon who decided to make his home above the children's bedroom ceiling at the Bauman household. The passageway was inaccessible to any human and so every night Judah and Anneke would go to bed with a loud scratching noise above their heads. Finally, Anneke could no longer stand the commotion ( not to mention being kept awake all night) decided to make her bed on the couch. We considered different methods of getting the animal out: putting a dog up there to kill it, but the dog would probably not drag it out which would leave a rotting animal up there all during the Christmas season. Finally we decided to set a trap! Yes, you're all wondering why it took us so long to think of that. Sorry, we're a little thick. Anyway that did not work. Anneke, hearing that raccoons hate loud music, taped her sisters speakers to the ceiling( don't tell Anja) and blared the loudest, rockiest music she could find. But the music was not loud enough so my dear father went and borrowed a boom box from our neighbors and, piling up many tables, magazines and boxes, wedged the speaker up to the ceiling. Needless to say we all went shopping in the afternoon because we couldn't stand the noise. But it worked and we blocked up the hole he was getting in and I finally have gotten some full nights of sleep. P.S. for the courtesy of the house guests who will be staying with us over

As I look at our now bare gardens and think about the beautiful flowers that once inhabited them and are now under the ground I feel DEPRESSED!!!!! But thankfully we still have pictures to show us that the beauty will come again.

Oh, and to let all out faithfull readers know, the blog will be absent for a couple of days as we are preparing to head to MI for Thanksgiving. But there will be more pictures to come from that when we get back.

So yesterday I had to go and make some meat deliveries in R------- and I asked my dearest of all dears....Anja...if she would like to go on a date of sorts...Of course she did (Heck you would have to be CRAZY not to want to go on a date with me!) ;)

The trip up was rather exciting...lots of traffic!!! I was also delivering eggs....And a couple of rather sudden stops...weeellll I guess you might say some eggs got delivered onto the carpet of mom's car.. (shhhhh) ;)

But we did eventually make it...three minutes late...
After delivering at the first location we headed off to the next. Which happened to be at the end of this kinda creepy road..But Anja and I were not scared-we are brave.. ( ok I admit it ..Anja is brave and I pretend to be).
Finally the last gal came for her meat (15 minutes late) grrr! There we were starving and freezing and at the end of a kinda creepy road no less!!

By 8:30 pm we were both ready to start eating eachother...well not quite..that would be rather cannibalistic. But we were really hungry!!

Driving the main drag in R------- we finally came across a restaurant that had a slightly normal name "The Cheesecake Factory" Anja didn't have very good memories of the last time she was in one so we decided to make some good ones :D

I was terribly disappointed when I walked in..cause guys it's not a cheesecake factory!!!
And the servers were dressed like astronauts!! no kidding!! it was kinda alittle weird!!
And all of sudden happy birthday was being sung acouple tables down from us....They needed help with it big time.

We enjoyed our appetizer very much...it was squid! pretty much amazing!
And then happy birthday was being sung at a totally different table...

And then Anja and I had a very good serious conversation...only inturrupted by another ear splitting rendition of happy birthday

And then there was dinner which was totally amazing! ......And then there was another birthday song (I'm not even kidding here guys)

When the ginormous dessert menu came Anja took it upon herself to read aloud EVERY cheesecake listed and it's description...She had to speak up once cause happy birthday was being sung again.....We finally narrowed the list down to something chocolate...cause I'm picky...and Anja isn't...but I LOOOOVE chocolate.

It was fantabulous!!!! oh my gosh like heaven in your mouth!!

And then Anja drove home cause I was tired.

Is feeling very inspired this morning to create a terrarium. But I must leave for work and will be gone all day so maybe it will inspire someone else. I can't complain though this is my second to last day of work for the season.

It starts the night before your birthday, (or, for those of you like me, weeks before) that tingling sensation that goes shooting up your back when ever you start thinking about your birthday or when someone else even happens to mention it. It is almost more then some of us can bear...

You wake up hours before everyone else and then proceed to lay in bed waiting, waiting til everyone else wakes up, waiting for them to call to you and say " you can come down stairs now". As you wait you can smell the mouthwatering aromas of your specially requested birthday breakfast being cooked downstairs. As you wait you can hear the rushing of feet as last minute preparations are made and the hushed whispers as well as the stifled giggles from a few of those who can hardly stand the wait as much as you can. And as you wait, that tingling sensation gets worse as the seconds go by....

Then the call finally comes and you rush downstairs, breathless, amid the shouts of "Happy Birthday" and a very loud, yet trying very hard not to sound off key, version of Happy Birthday being song..... Your Birthday has now begun.

The Fall of Anneke

I'm sure you're all wondering what happened to me. Yes it was an actual fall, but you'll have to wait till you get to the last picture to find out. Meanwhile let me tell you what happened. It was last Tuesday, and was such a beautiful day that I decided to take a walk and do some picture taking. The milk weed pods were especially beautiful as they burst open with every breath of wind.

Now for the story. Me, ever adventurous, decided that I would get a rope that I saw on the ground, tie it to a branch about ten feet up and then climb down on it. ( I was taking most of these pictures from in a tree) Anyway, the rope had just barely survived a beating with Judah's knife the year before,( don't ask me why he wanted to cut it) . To make a long story short, in the end, could not hold my weight and I fell ten feet to the ground, landing on my back and my wrist.

Me in great distress but ever realizing what a great post this would make took this picture in great pain. THE END

October gave a party, the leaves by hundreds came-the chestnuts, oaks, maples- there costumes all aflame. The sunshine spread a carpet, and everything was grand. Miss Weather led the dancing, Professor Wind the band, the guests were all aflutter and danced off hand in hand.

Browsing around the Thrift Store the other day my eye caught these boots....

For several months I've been searching for a pair of cowboy boots....I've found that the going rate for real leather (which of course I wanted duh ;) was over a hundred dollars! With Anja's little voice being my conscious I just couldn't justify spending that kind of money... But the timeless quote "All good things come to those who wait" ... sometimes pays off ;)
I spent 14.99 on my boots....Real leather...Barely used...I am a fan!!
I googled them and found them on Ebay selling USED for a hundred dollars...

You could start by inviting your best friend and his wife over for dinner...

begin the evening with some light hors d'oeuvres...
( brie with crackers and a mushroom-tart . I must say I did make a few corrections to the recipe when I made it 1. one should never roll out store- bought puff pastry as it ruins the buttery layers, so when making the tart make it the size of 1 sheet of puff pastry do not roll it any bigger. 2. It says to add 1 tsp of salt to the onions as they caramelize, but when you add salt it makes them sweat which will prevent them from caramelizing, so add the salt after. 3. Also, be sure when you are sauteing the mushrooms to saute it in batches. Put only enough to cover the bottom of your pan, if you add them all at once like it says the mushrooms will only sweat and prevent them from caramelizing properly. When you have sauteed them all you may then add them all back into the pan with the spinach. 4. I used Lively run goat cheese for the top. It is very mild goat cheese which can be found at Wegmans )

Here is what we have done to keep that dress around for just a little bit longer.

By layering with a little, knit sweater, adding leggings, boots and, of course, a scarf we turned our summer dresses into the perfect look for Fall.
